The King is Alive!

Sorry I'm behind on my blogging, got back late last night and didn't have time.
I bet most of you are wondering what my title is supposed to mean, but you'll have to wait for that.

On Monday morning, we got up, had breakfast, and went to the bus stop. We took the bus through the Lincoln tunnel and into Times Square. We spent time walking around, looking at stores, and taking in the sites. When we had looked around for a while we decided to go into the Hershey store. As soon as we walked in, we could smell chocolate. The store had every kind of chocolate you could imagine. After we were done looking around there, we headed across the street to the M&M store. We spent some time there and bought some M&Ms.

Then we headed north, towards central park. We stopped at FAO Schwartz to look at some toys. We then headed into the park and to the zoo. The zoo wasn't too exciting. A lot of the animals there were the same as the ones in Green Bay. We left and headed deeper into the park. We spent some time there, resting every once and a while, slowly heading to the west side, where the Museum of Natural History is. When we finally got over there, we were happy to get into an air conditioned building.

We were in the museum for a few hours. When we got out, we knew we had a long walk to the bus terminal. We made a few stops on the way back, to the Nintendo store and to the giant Toys R Us in Times Square. By this time, I was very tired, and a little cranky from the heat, so I was glad to be going back to our hotel.
On the way in to the bus station, my mom said that she saw Elvis but I didn't believe her.  We had just gotten to our seats on the bus when we saw Elvis coming onto our bus!  We tried not to laugh as he walked strait towards us.  He sat a few seats ahead of us and I was able to get this picture.  Guess you never know what you'll see in NY. You might even see a guy in an Indian head dress and underwear standing in Times Square playing a drum.

Until next time,

My Trip to Carlo's Bakery

The rest of our car trip was pretty boring. We left our hotel at around 9 am. We drove through the rest of Ohio, all the way through Pennsylvania, and into New Jersey. Our hotel is around Newark. The roads in Jersey are very confusing, going in loops and under bridges. We got a little lost, but eventually got to our hotel. We relaxed a little but were quickly on our way, this time just a few miles away to Hoboken. We were heading to Carlo's Bakery. If you've ever watched Cake Boss, you'll know about this. When we drove by, the front of the building didn't look too busy. I got out of the car with my sister and mom while my dad looked for a place to park. We went and stood in the small line. Just as we got in line, I heard someone talking about how they waited two hours to get something. I thought that was weird because of the size of the line. I looked down the street and noticed a much larger line on the next block. We stood in that line for about an hour. When we finally got inside, we waited for another ten minutes. We didn't get much when it was our turn to buy stuff. We got two cannolis, a cupcake, and an eclair. They were super yummy, and worth the wait. Soon after we got out of the bakery, it started to rain, so we got in the car and drove back to the hotel. We're resting now, watching the Olympics and getting ready for bed.

NYC trip: Day 1

Today was a long day of traveling. After waking up at 7 am, I only had a little while before we started on our trip. After 9 hours of traveling, and 5 breaks (because my sister has the bladder the size of a pea) we got to Youngstown, OH. It was 95 degrees outside when we got here. We checked in and went to our room, where it feels like it's 30 degrees.  I checked, and both our electric cooler and the fridge in the room are almost warmer. Anyways, we were hungry from our ride and were planning to eat, and then swim at the pool. When I looked out of the window we just happened to have a clear view of the pool. This is a picture of the pool. So we decided not to swim. We had supper at the restaurant downstairs. We are now in our room, watching the Olympics under the blankets to stay warm.

I'll post about the rest of our trip tomorrow.

Eastward Bound

As many of you may know, I am heading to NYC this week. I have packed a backpack with all the necessary items I will need for my long car trip:

  1. My ipod and earbuds, so I can tune out my sister when she starts asking about we we're going to get there.
  2. My DS, for when i get tired of staring out of the window.
  3. Two books, I am reading the City of Ember series.
  4. $53, all in cash, I hope I don't get robbed.
  5. A little fan, in case the AC goes out in the car.
  6. And finally, my cell phone, so I can keep in touch with my friends. :)
I'm staying at my grandma's house overnight tonight, and we're leaving tomorrow morning. We'll be staying in Youngstown,Ohio for a night. Sunday will be our last day of traveling. We're stopping in Hoboken, NJ to get some treats from Carlo's Bakery, where the film the show, Cake Boss. We're staying in Seacaucus, NJ, just across the Hudson River from Mannhatten.

Hopefully everything will go well.

This one time, at band camp...

I haven't seen the movie this phrase comes from, but every time I mention band camp, grown ups say this. But I really did go to band camp. I had a great time. The camp was at UWGB, so I got to preform in the Weidner Center, and had rehearsals in  the college band room. When I first got there, I didn't know if very many of my friends  were going to be there, but there turned out to be a lot of kids from my school. Although the musical aspect of the camp was fun, I think the best part was lunch, where we all crammed around one table and pulled up about five extra chairs just so we would all fit. After four long days of practicing, we had our concert. I even had a few percussion solos.

At UWGB

This is a picture of me sitting on a  bed in a dorm room at UWGB. I am currently here for Grandparents University, a summer camp for kids and their grandparents. This is my 5th year. I am taking a rocket science class with my grandpa. My sister is taking a clay class with my grandma.

Next week, I will be at UWGB for band camp. I play drums and have barely looked at my drumsticks since school ended.

Sorry I haven't had anything exciting to post about lately. I haven't been doing much.

Deliciousness

I have recently had two very yummy treats. My mom made this. It has a chocolate chip cookie bottom, a brownie top, and a peanut butter cup in the middle.Click here for the recipe.

The second treat I had was from Smart Cow Yogurt
Bar in Green Bay. If you haven't been there yet, you need to go. They have delicious frozen yogurt and tons of flavors and toppings. It is on Oneida St, right by the mall.

Aquarium Pictures

These are some of the pictures I took at the aquarium.

These are some little seahorses.
This was a giant sea turtle.
This was a shark that was directly above my head.
This is me with my hand on a stingray. Don't worry, there was glass between us.
This is a Poison Dart Frog. Luckily, it didn't attack me.

My Day at Mall of America

I finally have the rest of my pictures, so I can tell about the rest of the time I spent in Minnesota. On my last day, we went to Mall of America (MOA). We didn't have a lot of time to be there, because we still had to drive home that day.

The first thing we did when we got to MOA was go to the giant aquarium they have there. It was amazing!
There were tons of cool fish, like jellyfish and even sharks! I will try to do an individual post of some of the really cool pictures that I took.

The rest of MOA was really cool too. they had a huge Lego land, and had giant sculptures. the first thing I said when I saw them was,"Who has that much time to do something like that?" The picture below was just one of the many things there.

I had a really fun time in Minnesota. Thanks to my grandparents for taking me.

Back Home

I got home from Minnesota on Wednesday at about 6:00. I haven't really had anything to post about since I got home because all of my pictures are on my grandparents camera, and I can't figure out how to get pictures off of my phone. I will try to get some new pictures up tomorrow.

Touring St. Paul

Over the last few days we have been touring the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. This is a picture of me with a guard at Fort Snelling, a historical site. It was very similar to Heritage Hill, for those of you who live in Green Bay.

This was just one of the many things we have done. On our first day, (I am traveling with my grandparents) we went to the Como Zoo. The picture below was a polar  bear that was doing back flips in its pool. Later that night, we went and visited my relatives who live in the area.

Yesterday, went to Fort Snelling, along with the science museum in St. Paul. It was very fun and had a lot of cool exhibits. After a long drive home during rush hour traffic, we finally got back to our hotel and had Jimmy John's for supper. We swam in the pool, played some games, and finally at 10 o'clock I decided I wanted to make a blog. My mom wasn't too excited that I was still awake at the time.

Today we are heading to the Mall of America, then I have a long car ride home.

Until next time,

Greetings From Evan

Welcome to my blog! As you probably know, I'm Evan. This blog will include many things, including my travels and whatever else I'm thinking about.

This picture is actually not taken in NYC!   I was visiting Madison, Wisconsin and took this picture in front of a bar on State Street!

I am planning on a busy summer with lots of traveling.   I have already been to Madison, and I am in Minneapolis right now.   In August I will be heading to NYC to see the REAL Statue of   Liberty.

I'd love to have all of my friends and relatives follow along and hope that you aren't bored by my posts.

Till next time,

The Roving Red-Head  (Evan, for you slow learners)
